To Our Valued Art Show Vendors/Visitors


I want to send my sincere thank you to each of you for your participation in  the 54th annual Sylvania Chamber Arts and Crafts Festival on September 11, 2011. As always, we are thankful to the Sisters of St. Francis and Lourdes University for the pristine grounds and the assistance we received. The show went off without a hitch and we are blessed that the show has been so widely received through the years.


We are thankful for our sponsors because it is through partnerships that many organizations can work in harmony for the common good of the area.


On a sad note the board of the chamber has decided that this was the last art show. The criteria for assessing the event this year produced some disturbing statistics. We discussed the future of art shows with other arts organizations in the region and with the information gathered made our decision. The staff time spent on the event was considerable, the effects of the economy and the reduced number of both vendors and visitors were noticeable this year for the first time in the history of the event. It was decided that to preserve the integrity of the show to leave on a positive note.


Additionally, the chamber’s mission is to provide strategic leadership that promotes a dynamic business community. The art show began many years ago as a way to fund the projects of the chamber, but now as the city and township have grown our hard work is needed in other areas and we must take our funding efforts down a different path.


We are working on other more concise projects that I hope to alert you to in the near future. I wish for all of you a prosperous 2012.
